CHARLES, WHO MAY BE COVID INFECTED, COMES TO SCOTLAND

Prince Charles met with Prince Albert just days ago at a charity event

“PRINCE CHARLES is at risk of coronavirus after being in the same room as Prince Albert of Monaco who has tested positive for COVID-19” according to Lithgae on Twitter, passed to me by BJSAlba.

According to an associated tweet by Bill Cruikshank, Prince Charles has since decided to take a break at Balmoral despite the government telling people not to go to their holiday homes or caravans, potentially spreading the virus and using up precious resources in small communities.

Seems that there is one rule for Royals and one rule for the rest of us.

Quelle surprise…NOT!

  1. We will be lucky if its only coronavirus he has, the royals have a history of antisocial diseases ( a round of applause – or just clap )

  2. Possibly exposed, you say? Getting on a bit, isn’t he? Older than I am, and I’m self-isolating.

    Hm. Has he seen his ma recently?

    La reine est morte, vive le roi, qui est mort d’ailleurs, et hop, vive le roi encore une fois. Coronations in a time of coronavirus. What larks.

    1. LOL…

      I wonder if all these people a bit farther down the food chain, like Air Miles and his unpleasant daughters, are starting to get their hopes up. One day the crown will be mine, all mine.

        1. you take care now -no chances! I’ve had my allowed once per day exercise walk, crossing the road to avoid folk when necessary.

          I’ve just found out Alex Salmond has asthma and has had viral pneumonia twice. No wonder he was telling folk to go home yesterday it wasn’t safe. Imagine being forced to be in a court with all those people with Covid 19 about. I don’t mind him and Moira heading back to Aberdeenshire – at least that’s where they come from. Chuck and Cammy however…

            As for Ed, yes. I agree. We don;t want you to get anything nasty, so look after yourself. By Order of Munguin no less.

  3. How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary! She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies. Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits. The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness. Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy. And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.

  4. Ezekiel 6:12
    He that is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remaineth and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish my fury upon them.

  5. It goes without saying that I am not the biggest fan of the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha clan. What really gets me is the heid bummer coming out with meaningless platitudes, when if she donated some of her alleged £88 bn fortune to the many brave people fighting, and suffering, in this dreadful pandemic, it would at least show some empathy for “her” people.
    But of course they, the whole jing bang of them, don’t give a jot about us, just as long as we keep subsidising their outlandish, and privileged lifestyles.

    1. They all come out with the same meaningless platitudes. Willie was the latest with his nonsense about how good and unique the British were in a crisis. Dear heavens, even his father can’t follow government advice to keep safe.

      It’s not like Clarence House is tiny and there is no garden.

      As you say, they could put a few billion into making sure that the very poorest, who are sleeping on the streets, would be found shelter.

    1. It has to be getting closer by the day.

      At a time like this they shouldn’t be hiding away at Windsor and Balmoral. They should be working to get money out of billionaires and maybe reinforcing what her governments are saying.

      Useless wastes of space.

    Another nice quote about the saxe cobergs and the englandland establishment,
    they embrace hypocrisy with a greater ease than they embrace democracy.

  9. Finally did a shop today (Aldi – as it opened) and here’s what I noticed :

    1) 30 people in supermarket max. After that its one out, one in;

    2) As predicted (during Brexit stuff) there’s virtually no pork other than bacon;

    3) There’s more joints of lamb than I’ve ever seen in an English shop;

    4) Freezers are near empty – still a fair amount of meat/fish but all the frozen veg is gone;

    5) No tinned tomatoes/beans, no pasta, no dry rice (microwave bags/tubs still there though);

    6) No beer other than utterly crap “generic lager/bitter” 😦 ;

    7) No toilet roll, limited washing powder, no soap – although I suppose you could use the alcohol-based shaving gel, they had loads of that;

    8) Very limited stocks of petfood. This is apparently across all shops – one of the “Pets at Home” supermarkets here is basically stripped bare.

    People were very quiet – both in the queue and inside. Lots of people wearing masks/gloves and everyone trying their best to maintain 2m distance (impossible in Aldi’s narrow aisles).

    Strange days indeed….

      1. blimey. I’d better get washing powder on my next survival rations trip oot the hoose. My Monday trip to Aldi differed, freezers full but dry goods gone. Fresh veg and eggs available but limited choice. No tinned tomatos – I’m going to improvise with a tin of tomato soup! I hate tomato soup…

        1. You got tomato puree? If so then better starting with that and adding water/veg IMHO.

          Garlic makes a lot of difference if using tomato puree, but don’t crush it – either leave each clove of garlic whole or slice coarsely. If you do that and cook the garlic in a sauce it comes out nice & sweet rather than the harsh/strong taste you get when crushing.

          There’s few times I look back on my childhood on Lewis and think it prepared me for anything but this is one of them. Being isolated from shops/friends/supplies was just part of life up there – and with the internet now you’re never as isolated as we were 40-50 years ago.

          1. Garlic in Lewis? Never heard of the stuff in my Skye childhood. Correction, we had heard of it but never actually came across it. There was a standing joke about a cook being puzzled by an instruction to put garlic in the stew. “Ciamar a chuireadh mi Gaidhlig anns a bhiadh?” (How could I put Gaelic the food?)

            Took me a few years before discovering the delights of garlic, but quickly got addicted and will happily chew on a clove or two as a snack. So much so that on the golf course long ago, we were walking down the first fairway when my opponent remarked: “I didn’t know you spoke to Italian!”

            “I do actually, but why bring it up now?”

            “Because only an Italian would stink so much of garlic and I know you’re Scottish so you must at least speak the language!”

            And he still had 17 more holes to get used to it. Maybe we’re over-compensating for garlic-deprived Hebridean childhood.

              The wild garlic is out on the old golf course here in Leics.

              There’s a lot of people harvesting it this year who weren’t there last year (lovely and dry, warm etc) and given the place has been a swamp for the last 8 months (year and a halfs rainfall in 6 months) its got to be the first case of panic harvesting yet.

              Good that someone is using it, needs thinning out.

        Reasons :

        a) they don’t have a fine enough filter to do anything about Covid-19;

        b) they don’t even work against dust if you have a beard, never mind if you’re a beardie….

      1. I am attempting to establish a COVID – 9 resistant diet. I read somewhere – and he wasn’t selling the stuff, that getting adequate vitamin D would be a good idea. So’s took a walk to the pharmacy and it had stacks of Bio-Vitamin D (subscript3) 1000

        I could hardly believe my luck.

        If I had been less excited I might have noticed the subscript Cholecalciferol 1000 IU (25 (some Greek letter, you ancient language experts will know instantly what an upside down ‘h’ backwards means. (guessing at mu and didn’t cheat.)) plus a ‘g’.

        Queryhow an upside down backwards ‘h’ adds to human communication? Perhaps the world should have stopped at the Greeks of ancient times?

        Frankly, it was indeed Greek to me. The actual contents of the box of this stuff is 80 capsules which is written in, for me, extremely small font in the top left hand corner of the front of the box).

        Fool me once, etc.

        Are they lying?

        No.

        Are they being deceptive?

        I think so. It is still unclear to me where the 1000 came from.

        If anyone else has a packet of 80 Pharma Nord Bio-Vitamin D [subscript 3] 1000 ‘Pearls’ and thinks I am talking rubbish please let me know. And if anyone know that it works, let me know that too. As I have 76 left I suppose

          1. Thanks for that. Quite astonished that μ meant what I thought it did. Perhaps the human race will shortly be reduced to those that know that sort of stuff. I am more annoyed that 1000 was displayed so prominently that you’d assume, without a classical education, that there were 1000 tablets or whatever in the box.

            Just for my sake:

            Alpha, beta, upside down and reversed L, Equilateral triangle, epsilon, zeta, Het, as in a game, Theta, we all know that one hah! hah!, Epsilon, as in Epsilon Irandi, K unKnown, λ is clearly a very sick y, Mu is mu, which may have survived as a prefix to sic, N, I have no idea, Ξ probably a symbol from the I-Ching that doesn’t belong to be here, O as in ooh!, Pi, 3.14792…. ( which is obviously not it’s total reach), Σ the sum of, the Greeks were not into extended words when a letter would do, or perhaps later, T as in triangle or three (?), You perhaps, Φ φ, a funny way of writing you? Or perhaps ‘v’?

            X is obvious, it is their version of ‘A’.

            The trident is obviously ‘y’ and why?

            Ω ω just proves what we have always known, that the Greeks watches were brilliant. This is not sponsored by Omega Watches a wholly owned subsidiary of Greek Language international.

            1. Alas no, 1 mg is one milligram – one thousandth of a gram – and 1 µg – 1 microgram – is one thousandth of a milligram, i.e., one millionth of a gram.

              The 1000 I.U. means 1000 International Units – which, as far as I can tell, are no bloody use at all for anything except for comparing the relative amounts of whatever in your various pills and potions.

              The names of the Greek letters, in order, are:
              Α α alpha
              Β β beta
              Γ γ gamma
              Δ δ delta
              Ε ε epsilon
              Ζ ζ zeta
              Η η eta
              Θ θ theta
              Ι ι iota
              Κ κ kappa
              Λ λ lam[b]da
              Μ μ mu
              Ν ν nu
              Ξ ξ ksi
              Ο ο omicron
              Π π pi
              Ρ ρ rho
              Σ σ/ς sigma [the second small sigma is used only at the end of words]
              Τ τ tau
              Υ υ upsilon [the letter Y in French is called “i grecque”, Greek i, oddly]
              Φ φ, phi
              Χ χ khi
              Ψ ψ psi
