  1. Those Arctic foxes were lovely, so fluffy and white. Speaking of white, poor Mrs John shovelling snow whilst John wields a camera. Still guess what – snow looks fluffy and white.

Not sure what you meant by odd couple though. Both are white with black spots, practically twins 🙂 Loved the Oz beach, some parts have had rain overnight and it’s helped a bit. Apparently folk in New Zealand can see the flames and smell the smoke. That’s like folk in Portsmouth being able to see a fire in Orkney. Scary.

Hope that our Kangaroo is safe and well after their fire fighting efforts. Read somewhere that a good proportion of the volunteer fire fighters are unemployed. Government has only gone and stopped their unemployment money as “they are not therefore available for work”. FFS – what about the rest of the fighters that do work then!!!

    1. Yeah, I too hope that Kangaroo is safe and well. He’s one of the Munguin family. Keep in touch, Iain, if you are reading this.

I really can’t believe the Australian government. This is incredible news.

The easy solution wold be to pay them for the work they are doing for the state.

But we are talking Scott Morrison here, so not much chance of that or anything else sensible.

Hope you’re feeling better by the day, PP.

  2. Great pics, as always – Thanks, Tris. By the way, if you look closely at the shot of The Drinking Horse, Shetland, you’ll see in the middle distance (behind the gate) a Shetland pony in much the same position as the rock formation. Two drinking horses then. Coincidence or serendipity? 🐴🐴

    1. Cuppa tea? Not while I have important things to do, like posting MNR comments and finishing the Private Eye crossword. And how am I supposed to know how to work the kettle? Anyway, she must be near done by now and got the snow-chains on. Time for her to take me out for a pint and a puir auld yin like me can’t be expected to walk in these conditions.

I could slip and do myself a damage. Especially on the way home (often risky even without snow). That why I have a Resident Sassenach in the first place.

      1. One cannot but applaud your enlightened views, John. Must fly, I have to get all the hoovering and dusting done before I start making the dinner and putting on a big washing. To be fair, my other half has to do her fingernails.

        1. Let’s face it Andi, some people have got the nobles’ life worked out… and then there’s me and you.

Hold on, I’ll be right back Munguin’s glass needs refilled!

  3. Worry not. The RS shares the same sense of humour. She needs to, having put up with me for so long. Every home should have one. Remember hilarious Marty Feldman movie? Especially when the ‘one’ is young and blonde. RS used to qualify but as she rightly points out my beard used to be black.
