Maybe all the evidence of bias is having an effect. Several fairly conservative (small ‘c’)acquaintances of mine, probably Labour or LibDem voters have remarked recently along the lines of: ‘nobody would trust the BBC these days.’

The BBC mistakes are great. Broadcast the mistakes, make sure plenty people see it, then when there are complaints, play the “mistake” card.

It occurred to me some time ago that I only ever see vox pops of people from “oop north” telling us that we must get Brexit done. And that we can’t ignore 17,5 million British people.
Actually, to be fair, I’ve often thought the broadcasters were laughing at them… people like the diabetic man who doesn’t care if he can’t get his medicine (without which he will die) as long as Britain leaves the EU.
Without wishing to seem like an intellectual snob (which I hope I’m not, and would certainly have no right to be) I think they pick thought-challenged people.
The people in Richmond don;t make as good tele!.
I suspect our Laura is intelligent enough to know that her choice of the word “interfere” in place of “intervene” will, without anyone particularly thinking about it, have a negative impact.

The BBC got a fact wrong, they’ve admitted it and apologised.
Fair enough, so they should and about time to.
I hope though that they’re not going to get all smug and self-satisfied…they still have to recognise and address the bias, the lack of impartiality and the partisan selective reporting .
A mea culpa when ‘fessing up to a trivial issue of getting one number wrong is no mitigation or licence for their systemic lack of fairness and objectivity in news, politics and current events.

Vast numbers of people are stopping licence fee payment and opting instead for a Netflix contract on which they can get some BBC programmes, and a very great more, for much less than the licence fee.
I haven’t had a licence since 2013 and I’ve never missed it.

That the present day Tories are to the right of UKIP and Brexit and just about off the page is fascinating.
I was surprised at this though:

That is surely way out of date. Labour is expected to hae3 one seat from Scotland… hardly earth shattering, and even if it’s not as bad as that, they would be lucky to get more that a tenth of the seats.
Alos, I’m not sure that it is Nicola’s business how England votes. I once met a really nice guy, an Englishman who was most concerned that we should not leave, becasue it would mean permanent Tory government…
Eh?
If the English largely vote Tory, is it not undemocratic to hold on to Scotland in order to deny them what they voted for?

My wife isn’t political. She did however watch Johnson on the leader debate. She laughed when the audience laughed at Johnson when he mentioned trust. I’ve just shown her the BBC’s doctored clip where laughter & booing are replaced with clapping . All of a sudden..she’s political
