With grateful thanks to Abu…

Abu sent me this. I thought it was most appropriate.

Pity the nation whose people are sheep

And whose shepherd misleads them.

Pity the nation whose leaders are liars

Whose sages are silenced

And whose bigots haunt the airwaves

Pity the nation that raises not its voice

Except to praise conquerers

And acclaim the bully as hero

And aims to rule the world by force and by torture

Pity the nation that knows no other language but its own

And no other culture but its own

Pity the nation whose breath is money

And sleeps the sleep of the too well fed

Pity the nation, oh pity the people

Who allow their rights to erode

And their freedoms to be washed away

My country tears of thee

Sweet land of liberty.

  1. Many thanks .
Pity carless jackass doesn’t read and take on board this sensible view of Ruk.
Wonder who put the skids under thomson to stand down or is it to keep the ALEX media onslaught dry.
A tale of unintended consequences, back the doris, don’t get a job in his government, he calls an election, look for a new berth.

    1. Yep. I thought it was quite moving.

Jackass is only interested in being “someone”. I saw a photo of him with the scarecrow the other day. He looked fit to bust with pride.

As for Thomson. I’ve no idea whether he is guilty or not, and I’m not about to speculate, but I’ll lay a pound to a penny that he didn’t “choose” to go. He’s got more front than Rothsay.

      1. Hello all!

I forgot about this post. I am fine thank you very much. Mostly lurking around nowadays. Just waiting for the word. And I am taking a Wing-esque view. Tired of the talking and posturing. So I am keeping quiet till the time comes. Though I don’t think I will be able to keep my word and come to Scotland when it matters. I hope I will be able to contribute in some other ways.

This poem is by Khalil Gibran. I will not be able, in my entire lifetime or the next, to write something like this. I saw this a while back and saved it. I guess now is a good time as any to share this.

All the best over there; we are about to go into a Battle Royale.

Thank you to Tris and Munguin too, for indulging me.

        1. It gets closer by the day, Abu.

The UK becomes ever more dysfunctional.

Johnson’s spokespeople, including cabinet ministers, have said that they won;t extend the negotiations for a trade deal past December 2020 (not that that means a lot!). Given that they cannot begin those negotiations until the withdrawal has been completed, that means, almost undoubtedly, that they will have no more than 11 months to do a full trade deal. The withdrawal was the easy bit and it has taken 3+ years, so the chances of any deal being done in time are virtually zero.

So we are back to a no deal Brexit.

Frankly, I imagine that that is what Johnson wants, because a real deal with the EU would limit his ability to bow at the feet of the orange moron, Trump.

Let’s be done with it then. The first stage has to be to get more seats in their parliament.

Don’t worry about not being able to come for the referendum. You know that when you do come, you’ll be given a warm welcome.

Did you remember that photograph with Munguin?

        2. I for one am very glad to hear from you again, Abu. Do come back and see us again as soon as you can. I swear you must have been born with a Scottish soul!

Send some of that warm weather down where you are up to us here, it’s getting pretty damn cold and dark. Perfect election weather…
