It appears that Theresa May’s government in its incredible ignorance of just about everything was unaware that, unlike in the UK, elsewhere in the world, little countries do have a voice AND A VETO.
Yes, the UK government walks all over Scotland and if she were not dependent on Arlene Forster for her survival, would walk all over Northern Ireland. London ignores Wales. And they assume that other little countries can be ignored too.
But, in the WTO (and the EU) it seems that it only takes one country, no matter how small, poor and globally insignificant, to say NO, NOPE, NON, or in this case NU… and yer arse is in the fire, as they say.

A few other countries come to mind who have been trampled on by Westminster:
Argentina (Falklands),Iceland (Cod wars),Chile (supporting Galtieri).
I am sure there are many others who wish Westminster’s Tories an ill will and trade deals outside
Trumpland are going to be difficult and time consuming.
Meantime,we can all celebrate being back in control again (apart from viewers in Scotland).

Oh and Iceland also has a bone to pick with London over the way they were treated like terrorists when Iceland banks with branches in England (regulated by the Bank of England) defaulted in 2009. Gordon Brown.

The Icelanders have been quite clear that one of the factors in the way that their banks were treated by Brown & Darling was political. They are quite convinced that it was in part motivated by an attempt to undermine the SNP case for independence and their narrative of the “arc of prosperity”.

Reminds me of the Grand Duchy of Fenwick, the mouse that roared.
It appears to have a voice even although the maybot considers it well:-
Too Poor, Too Small and of No significance wrt the englandlanders.
Wonder when we will get it on the ebc news, nothing to tell we’ll just send round the TWO aircraft carriers and put the frightners on.
In the meantime no mention of dirty money or democracy. The tories lead in the ugov poll. Big rally for a meaningful vote after the referendum to end all referenda.

Love the reports that she has only 5% to go.
Someone quoted it mut be on Microsoft timescales as the last 5 % seems to take longer than the first 95%.
In the old car and aircraft adverts with the same quotation everyone knows that they have at least half the work still to complete.

F’ing blue passports.
Fat lot of good they are going to do us. Passed through Schiphol on the way to Denmark the other week and got through the Schengen immigration line in Jig time. Was having to shift it as well with a tight connection. Looked over at the Non EU queue which was huge, and slow thinking, “I’ll be in that queue next time”. AAAAArgh. …. F’ing blue passports.

But they are BLUE, or maybe BLEU, so it’s something to look at and behold as you do the 3 hour wait and miss your flight connection.

Whilst the article concentrates on Moldova, it also mentions that along with them:

Seems to me that we are up a certain creek without a paddle. Perhaps there are historical examples of countries going full ‘hari kari’ on themselves, outwith losing a war, but I am not aware of them.

The nearest (at least in Europe) I can think of was Albania which was anti-America and anti-Soviet at the same time.
They had almost no contact with the outside world, and only a trade deal of sorts with China.
I went there with university in 1988.
It was a fascinating place, but it was like going back in time by 40 years or so.
There was nothing much to eat and nothing much to do, but the brandy was good… and VERY cheap.
No way to live though.
Seeing Tirana now, I can hardly believe it is the same place.
