Dolphins.
They are intelligent, we agree.
So are humans.
Humans anthropomorphize Dolphins
Dolphins kill porpoises for fun. This is known.
Those humans who anthropomorphize dolphins are so correct, even if they don’t mean to be.

Aye, Conan, dolphins are intelligent and cute, too. I think the cutest are the big ones we call Orca 🙂

Well put.
I didn’t know dolphins went in for blood sports.
I wonder if they are royal?

I really hate to get into an area as complicated as this early in the week. It always sends me to Google ONE MORE TIME to figure out the difference between dolphins and porpoises. It turns out there are no less than 32 species of dolphin (not counting 5 closely related species of river dolphin) and 6 species of porpoise. They have some shape differences (one or the other has a snout I think….I recently knew but I just forgot.)
But then it gets even more complicated. They are ALL (as I understand it) toothed whales. But don’t be confused; not all whales are dolphins and porpoises. Some whales are just….well……whales……of one non-dolphin/porpoise variety or another.
But we can hang our hat on one ABSOLUTE biological fact. ALL dolphins and porpoises are mammals……aren’t they?
Well…….NO!
Turns out there is a FISH that is often called a dolphin……or sometimes “dolphinfish” or “mahi-mahi”. (See illustration.)
Now Conan has introduced a moral consideration. Some have anti-social tendencies….what with being killers and all.
It’s all very complicated!
